Test Software Engineer I, II, III

Overview

US CITIZENSHIP OR LAWFUL PERMANENT RESIDENT IS REQUIRED.

Candidates should possess a combination of LabVIEW application development experience, electrical power & data system design and build experience, and hands-on testing or test equipment experience. Candidate must possess the willingness and drive to learn and excel in a small team environment with a diverse array of responsibilities. The Test Software Engineer candidate is responsible for design, development, production, and activation of specialized test equipment used in the aerospace and aviation industry for component and system level checkouts of flight hardware. This is a dynamic position that requires the flexibility to adapt quickly between different roles and requires a broad skill set with high emphasis on prior hands on experience working on complex systems. The Test Software Engineer must be capable of integrating software, electrical systems, and hardware to solve complex problems. The candidate should possess an innate ability to troubleshoot issues with control software, mechanical hardware, and electrical systems. The candidate should be accustomed to setting and maintaining challenging schedules while keeping safety and quality at the forefront of every activity.

Responsibilities

Typical Design Activities

  • LabVIEW control algorithm development

  • Analog and digital signal processing and hardware communication protocols

  • Data analysis and report generation

  • Test system electrical component selection

  • Electrical schematic design using Microsoft Visio or PowerPoint

  • DAQ system hardware selection  

  • Power budgeting and junction box layout

 

Typical Production Support

  • Test Automation sequence programming

  • Hardware sourcing & procurement

  • Electrical system wiring

  • Harness fabrication

  • DAQ system wiring

  • Test software de-bugging

  • Test plan and procedure generation

Basic Qualifications

  • Team oriented and trustworth, a history of demonstrating good character and strong values

  • BS degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering

  • Experience designing and building complex systems such as a vehicle or propulsion system or as a test engineer in support of aviation, aerospace, or other rigorous hardware development programs

    • Level I: Minimum of 2 years (Extracurricular collegiate projects and club experience may be considered).

    • Level II: Minimum of 5 years industry experience

    • Level III: Minimum of 10 years industry experience

Preferred Skills and Experience

 

  • LabVIEW certifications 

  • Strong working knowledge of LabVIEW Professional Development System

  • Candidate is comfortable building and testing mechanical and electrical hardware

  • High degree of comfort with the integration of software, electrical, and mechanical systems with demonstratable experience

  • Test Data analysis and report generation

  • PCB design experience

  • Experience with aviation or aerospace testing requirements

  • Project management skills with direct customer facing experience

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.  Must be a good communicator, both internally within the organization as well as with customers and vendors.

  • Advanced PC proficiency and strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Project and Microsoft Visio

  • Willing to work in a small company environment with a high degree of responsibility and autonomy

  • High energy performer, willing to work in a fast-paced environment and wear multiple hats

  • Manage demanding customers in a professional manner

  • Experience in preparing and presenting technical materials during Aerospace and Defense PDR/CDR as well as on customer calls

Additional Requirements

  • Must be open to work variable schedules including overtime or weekends as needed

  • Must be open to travel to customer and vendor locations (No more than 20% of time)

  • Must be able to lift at least 25 lbs. unassisted

  • Sumbit at least two (2) professional references available for brief phone interview

ITAR Requirements

Candidate must conform to U.S. Government technology export (ITAR) regulations. Applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
